NDSU Wrestling’s Petersen Earns At-Large Bid to NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – North Dakota State wrestling 149 pounder Max Petersen was selected as an at-large bid for the 2026 NCAA Wrestling National Championships next week in Cleveland, Ohio.
Petersen posted a 15-8 record this season, including four ranked wins and a 9-3 dual record. Petersen is ranked No. 17 by FloWrestling and No. 18 by InterMat following a 6th place finish with a 2-3 weekend at the Big 12 Championships, missing an automatic bid by one spot.
Petersen joins four other Bison to earn a spot in the NCAA Championships. Ezekiel Witt (125), Gavin Drexler (157), Aidan Brenot (184), and Devin Wasley (197) finished in automatic qualifying spots last weekend at the Big 12 Championships.
The NCAA Championship brackets will be announced Wednesday, March 11. The NCAA Championships are set for March 19-21 at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland.
