McGlynn 11th in NCAA Championships Heptathlon After Day One

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – North Dakota State senior Zach McGlynn stands in 11th place after the opening day of the heptathlon at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday.
McGlynn scored 3,225 points through the first four events – the same exact point total he had after four events on Jan. 30 on the way to his school record, personal-best score.
McGlynn (Stephen, Minn.) clocked 7.24 in the 60m dash, jumped 23-07.50 (7.20m) in the long jump, threw a career-best 44-08.25 (13.62m) in the shot put, and capped the day by clearing 6-9 (2.06m) in the high jump.
McGlynn's high jump mark tied for the second-best in the field, and his shot put mark was fifth-best.
McGlynn sits just 17 points behind eighth place, with the top eight finishers earning first-team All-America honors Saturday.
The heptathlon will resume at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday with the 60m hurdles, followed by the pole vault and 1000m. The meet is being streamed on ESPN+.
