NDSU Men's Golf Heads to Iowa for Hawkeye Invitational

FARGO, N.D. - The North Dakota State men's golf team will head to Riverside, Iowa for their final tournament before the Summit League Championships. The Bison will be competing at the Hawkeye Invitational, which will be hosted by Iowa at the Bluetop Ridge Golf Course on April 20-21.
 
TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
The Hawkeye Invitational will be a 54-hole tournament played across two days. The event will begin with the first two rounds on Monday with the final round being played on Tuesday. Both days will feature a shotgun start, with tee times scheduled for 9 a.m. CT each day.

THE TOURNAMENT FIELD
The Iowa Hawkeyes will host 14 teams in the 2026 Hawkeye Invitational. Along with the Bison, the tournament field includes Drake, Missouri State, Air Force, Northern Iowa, Omaha, Valparaiso, UMKC, South Dakota, Southern Illinois, Western Illinois, South Dakota State, and DePaul.
 
THE COURSE
Located just south of Iowa City, the Blue Top Ridge Golf Course at Riverside Casino and Resort is a world class course suitable for all players. Spanning over 7,400 yards from the back tees, the par-72 course was designed by Rees Jones in 2007 and has been a staple of Iowa golf since. The course travels through vistas overlooking two rivers, man-made lakes, and diverse terrain to offer breathtaking views throughout the course.
 
BISON AT THE HAWKEYE INVITATIONAL
This will be the second appearance for the Bison at the Hawkeye Invitational. NDSU competed at the event in 2025, where they placed 10th of 13 teams. The highest placing Bison finished in a tie for 46th at +10.
 
LAST TIME OUT
NDSU enters the Hawkeye Invitational following a runner-up finish at the Racer Intercollegiate in early April. The Bison placed three golfers inside the top 15 at the event, with Jake Skarperud as the top finisher in fourth place at -3 overall.
 
BISON COMPETING 
NDSU will take six golfers down to the Hawkeye Invitational. The Bison lineup will include Andrew Ballou, Gabe Benson, Rylin Petry, Jake Skarperud, and Carter White. Joey Mackinac will compete as an individual at the event.
 
BISON NOTES
- Senior Jake Skarperud recorded a fourth-place finish at the Racer Intercollegiate, marking his fourth top five finish of the season. Skarperud currently leads the team in top five finishes, as well as rounds at or below par with 15.
 
-Senior Rylin Petry finished in a tie for fifth to claim his second top five finish of the season for the first time in his career. Petry currently leads the team in scoring average, holding 72.07 through 29 rounds.
 
- Freshman Joey Mackinac finished just outside the top 25 in his 54-hole tournament debut. Mackinac finished in a tie for 27th place at +4 and will return to the Bison lineup for the Hawkeye Invitational.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
The NDSU men's golf team will have just over a week off before concluding the season at the Summit League Championships. The Championships will be held at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona, on May 3-5.
