NDSU Men’s Golf Wraps Day Two of NCAA Regional Championships

MARANA, Ariz. – North Dakota State men's golfers Rylin Petry and Andrew Ballou led the Bison on day two of the NCAA Marana Regional Championships at The Gallery Golf Club, firing -2 rounds of 70.
Petry climbed to a tie for 34th overall in the field after posting three birdies on the back nine to go under par for the first time in the event. The senior had eight pars and a bogey on the front nine, but reeled off birdies on holes 11, 14 and 17 to post a -2 round for the day. Petry leads the Bison in the event, sitting at +1 headed into the final round.
Ballou also shot a -2 round of 70 on the day and carded a team best four birdies in his second round. The freshman started off the day with a birdie on hole one. After a double bogey on the third whole, Ballou carded 12 more pars, along with birdies on holes six, 13 and 16. Ballou enters the final round at +2, in a tie for 39th overall.
Jake Skarperud carded the only eagle for the Bison on the day, posting a three on the par-5 16th. Skarperud also had two more birdies on the back nine to help him post a +2 round of 74. Skarperud sits at +8 overall, in a tie for 64th.
Gabe Benson and Carter White wrapped up the scoring for the Bison on the day, with the duo each carding rounds of 75. Benson started the day with two birdies on the first two holes, while White had three birdies, all on the back nine. Benson sit at +5 overall in a tie for 56th, while White is at +9, tied for 69th.
The Bison, who tied for the 10th best round of the day with a 289, sit in 14th overall at +15 for the event. The final round is set to get underway Wednesday morning, with tee times set to begin at 9 a.m.
