NDSU Volleyball Outlasts Montana, 3-1

SPOKANE, Wash. – The North Dakota State volleyball team outlasted Montana, 3-1, at the Zags Volleyball Classic at the Charlotte Y. Martin Centre on Thursday night.
Lauren Jansen guided the Bison (6-2) with a match-high 15 kills, while Arianna Blohm connected on 12 kills with a .524 hitting percentage. Sarah Pfiffner recorded her fourth straight double-double with 40 assists and a season-best 14 digs. Rya Borer also contributed a match-best 18 digs on the defensive end.
After splitting the first two frames, 25-17, and, 25-20, both teams worked through a match-high eight ties in the third frame. The Bison constructed a late 7-0 run to open up a 21-17 lead with a kill from Blohm. Montana (3-6) responded with four unanswered points to lock the frame, 22-22, with an ace from Taylor Isabel. NDSU then closed the set on a key 3-1 run capped off by a kill from Jansen to win the frame, 25-23.
The two teams continued to go back and forth into the fourth set that saw another seven ties and four lead changes. Following a pair of kills from Emma Tallman to make the score 23-22, the Grizzlies put together a late 3-1 run to steal a 25-24 advantage with a kill from Mylee Blake. The Bison once again answered with a clutch 3-0 run finished off with a kill from Jansen to win the set, 27-25, and the match, 3-1.
NDSU will be back in action against Gonzaga tomorrow. First serve is set for 8:00 p.m. CT
