FARGO, N.D. - The North Dakota State women's golf team opens its season by hosting the NDSU Fall Invitational for the fifth straight year on September 8-9 at Oxbow Country Club.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
The NDSU Fall Invitational will be a 36-hole tournament, with round one being played on Tuesday and round two on Wednesday. Tee times will begin at 9:10 a.m. on both days.

THE COURSE
Oxbow Country Club is a private club featuring a championship level course located in Oxbow, North Dakota, 20 miles south of Fargo. Originally designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 1975, the course underwent a major renovation in 2015. Robert Trent Jones Jr. was once again brought in to oversee the project, which was completed in 2019. The course uses the prairies of North Dakota to provide striking views of the natural land on and surrounding the course. Spanning 7,323 yards from the back tees, Oxbow provides a fair yet challenging layout for golfers of all skill levels.

BISON AT THE NDSU FALL INVITATIONAL
The Bison have hosted the tournament each year since the 2022-23 season, and have come out victorious each of the past four seasons. In last year's tournament, Lily Vincelli (68-75-143) took home her first individual tournament title by firing an overall score of -1. Rounding out the podium was Norah Roberts (69-76-145) and Madi Hicks (71-79-150), guiding NDSU to a score 15 strokes lower than second place South Dakota.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bison closed the book on the 2025-26 season with a fourth-place finish at the Summit League Championships last April. Madi Hicks ended her collegiate career with a top five finish, firing rounds of 72-75-74 to finish the tournament at eight-over. Jeri Lafleche finished in solo fourth in her first Summit League Championship appearance. She concluded her last two rounds at a combined two-over, including three back nine birdies on Day 2.

BISON COMPETING
NDSU will have six golfers competing at Oxbow Country Club. The golfers included will be Hannah Dunk, Jeri Lafleche, Norah Roberts, Belle Kongshaug, Avery Bartels and Bella Leonhart. Emma Fitzmorris and Lauren Chambs will also compete as individuals.

THE HEAD COACH
Head coach Matt Johnson enters his 18th season at the helm for NDSU. Under Johnson, NDSU has set records for team scoring average in 10 of his 17 seasons. He's coached the Bison to both of their Summit League Championships and NCAA Regional appearances in 2013 and 2018.

BUILDING OFF SUCCESS
Second-year golfer Jeri Lafleche enters the 2026-27 season after a successful first season in collegiate golf. She averaged 76.38 over 26 rounds, recording three top 10 finishes, including two in the top five. She finished in solo fourth in her first Summit League Championship appearance with a 54-hole total of 220. Before coming to NDSU, she was the youngest golfer to win the Manitoba Women's Amateur Championship at just 15 years old.

FAMILIAR FOES
The Bison will return to six tournaments this season that they also participated in last year. In the fall portion of the schedule, the Bison will once again host the NDSU Invitational, before heading to compete at the Yellowstone Intercollegiate, the Diane Thomason Invitational and the Clash at Boulder Creek. In the spring, they'll return to the Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate hosted by Minnesota and compete at the Bobcat Invitational in Goodyear, Arizona.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Bison will take a week off before heading to the Yellowstone Intercollegiate hosted by Montana State in Bozeman, Montana. The Bison return to the tournament field for the second straight year after a fourth-place finish in 2025.
