Bison Cross Country Headed to UMary Marauders Opener Friday

The North Dakota State University women's and men's cross country teams will open the 2026 season at the Marauders Opener in Bismarck this Friday afternoon, Sept. 11.
The men's eight-kilometer race is scheduled for 4 p.m., with the women's 6k to follow at 5 p.m. at the McDowell Dam Recreation Area.
Both the Bison women and men were voted third in the Summit League preseason cross country poll, with North Dakota favored on the women's side and South Dakota State favored for the men.
Preseason Athletes to Watch for the Bison women include Mia Hoffmann and Jade Rypkema. Hoffmann placed eighth at the Summit League Cross Country Championships last year. Rypkema will be representing NDSU in cross country for the first time after breaking the NDSU outdoor school record in the 10,000m this April.
The NDSU men's Preseason Athletes to Watch are Brady Goss and Ethan Moe. Goss won the 3000m steeplechase at the 2026 Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championships, while Moe is a returning first-team All-Summit League performer in cross country after taking sixth place at the conference meet last fall.
The NDSU women have captured five Summit League team cross country championships since 2011. The Bison men have 11 straight top-three finishes as a team at the conference cross country meet.
