North Dakota State University hired Carlton Littlejohn as defensive ends coach for the Bison football program in February 2024. He added the role of special teams coordinator in 2025.
Littlejohn, who played on four NDSU national championship teams as a linebacker from 2011 to 2014, returned to his alma mater with eight years of experience as a linebackers coach and coordinator.
Littlejohn spent five years as the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Minnesota State Moorhead from 2018 to 2022, and he was the special teams coordinator and linebackers coach at Sioux Falls in 2023.
He began his coaching career at the University of Jamestown in 2016 as a special teams coordinator and linebackers coach, and he was at Gustavus Adolphus in 2017 as the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.
In his playing days, Littlejohn was a three-year starter and led the Bison in tackles his final two seasons. He finished fourth in NDSU history with 345 career tackles, which is still the most in the Division I era at NDSU. He was a team captain in 2014 and made the All-Missouri Valley Football Conference first team.
Littlejohn graduated from NDSU in May 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
