Gordie Haug

Gordie Haug begins his second season as an offensive assistant for North Dakota State University.

North Dakota State won the program’s second straight NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) national championship on Jan. 5, 2013, with a 39-13 win over Sam Houston State. The Bison completed the season with a 14-1 record including a 7-1 ledger in winning the Missouri Valley Football Conference title.

Haug works with the running backs including John Crockett, who was named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer team in 2012. Sam Ojuri and Crockett each rushed for over 1,000 yards last season.

A native of Crookston, Minn., Haug spent the previous five years working on the Bemidji State University (Minn.) staff as a student assistant, graduate assistant and an assistant coach.

Since 2007, Haug was involved in coaching offense, defense and special teams for BSU, along with recruiting, and strength and conditioning.

Active off the field, Haug served as the NCAA CHOICES Program chapter coordinator at Bemidji State and has been a diabetes educator at Leech Lake Diabetes Center.

Haug earned his bachelor's degree in 2009 and master's degree in 2011 from Bemidji State.
