Josh Rosenthal joined the North Dakota State University football staff in 2026 as the program's first director of scouting and player personnel, a new staff position added with NDSU's move to the Football Bowl Subdivision and the Mountain West Conference.
Rosenthal came to NDSU from the University of South Dakota, where he was the director of player personnel from 2022 to 2024 and served as the general manager in 2025. During his four years, the Coyotes made a major turnaround with three straight 10-win seasons, two NCAA quarterfinal appearances and one semifinal appearance.
Prior to South Dakota, Rosenthal spent three seasons at Iowa State University, where he was the assistant director of player personnel from 2019 to 2021. He played a pivotal role in identifying three of the highest ranked recruiting classes in program history as the Cyclones made three straight bowl games.
Rosenthal graduated from Concordia University St. Paul, where he played for three seasons and was the Golden Bears' long snapper for an all-conference kicker and punter. He helped CSP reach the 2010 Mineral Water Bowl in his senior year before beginning his coaching career as a graduate assistant.
Rosenthal moved across town to join the coaching staff at the University of St. Thomas in 2014, where he spent four seasons as the Tommies' wide receivers coach before returning to Concordia-St. Paul in 2018 as the wide receivers coach and director of football operations.
A graduate of Jefferson High School in Bloomington, Minn., he began his collegiate career as a wrestler at Minnesota State University Mankato before returning to football at Concordia-St. Paul.
Rosenthal and his wife, Amy, have two daughters, Perry and Vale.
