2005-06 Season (Junior): Battled through an early-season foot sprain and preseason wrist injury to make 27 starts, missing only the Jamestown game to rest the foot...Ranked second among the Division I independents in rebounds per game (8.0) and blocks per game (1.3)...Also ranked 10th in field-goal percentage (.496)...Recorded seven double-doubles...Season-high 22 points vs. Mary...Had 20 points and 14 rebounds against IPFW, including eight points and five rebounds in the first five minutes...Scored 16 points with 13 rebounds in the upset win at Wisconsin...MVP of the Montana State tournament, where he had 20 points, 10 boards and four assists against the host Bobcats...Scored 21 points including 9 of 10 foul shots vs. Manhattan...Scored 19 points and swatted three shots against Denver...Had 20 points and 10 boards at Idaho State...Made his Bison debut with 21 points and 12 rebounds in the exhibition win over Minnesota State-Moorhead.

Awards: Division I independent Player of the Week (1/3) and Newcomer of the Week (1/24)...All-independent second team...Independent all-newcomer team.

Junior College: Spent the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons at North Dakota State College of Science under coach Craig Irwin...Played alongside Division I recruits Jamil Lott (Marquette) and Mark Kruse (Illinois State)...As a sophomore, averaged 13.6 points, a team-high 9.7 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and 1.3 steals per game...Helped the Wildcats to a 28-7 record and the consolation finals of the NJCAA national tournament...Averaged 12 points and 6 rebounds as a freshman.

High School: Prepped at Como Park High School in St. Paul under coach Dan Brink...Graduated in 2003...Named first-team all-conference and second team all-state...Averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Personal: Enrolled in university studies...Worked as a cashier and stocked shelves for a Fargo convenience store during the summer...Son of Ervin and Michelle Smith of St. Paul...Family includes two brothers, Jason and Nick, and two sisters, Sandra and Ashley.
