FARGO, ND -- No. 2-ranked North Dakota State won 8 of 10 weight classes and rolled to a 31-6 win over St. Cloud State on Saturday before a crowd of 516 fans at the Bison Sports Arena to finish the North Central Conference dual meet season a perfect 6-0.
NDSU (12-3 overall) was up 7-6 after four bouts, but a MATT STRAWSER pin, a NICK MAGEE major decision and a LUCAS CHRISTIANSON technical fall sprung the Bison to a 22-6 lead they would not relinquish.
Strawser recorded three takedowns and three 3-point near falls against Stephen Clary before registering a win by fall 1 minute, 45 seconds into the first period. Magee had 3-point and 2-point near falls in an 8-0 major decision over Derek Miller, and Christianson recorded 11 takedowns and one 2-point near fall in a 24-9 win over John Dirksen. Christianson was one takedown short of tying the single-match school record of 12 takedowns.
St. Cloud State (1-13, 0-6 NCC) got wins at 184 pounds by Tate Wheeler and at heavyweight by No. 2-rated Dustin Darveaux. Darveaux needed a third-period escape and a late takedown to turn back NDSU's CHRIS TUCHSCHERER 3-1.
