Box Score BOZEMAN, Mont.--North Dakota State senior outside hitter Kim Hebl had team highs with 11 kills, six blocks and five service aces, but Montana State battled back from two deficits for a 30-22, 30-25, 30-27 sweep of the Bison in college women's volleyball Saturday, Oct. 29, before a crowd of 1,307 at Shroyer Gym.
North Dakota State got a balanced effort despite hitting only .125 in the match. Christy Stuewe and Lindsay Shockman-Rogers each had nine kills, and Kelly Lopez added eight kills.
Junior outside hitter and setter Sheila Parrish had seven kills plus 24 assists and eight digs in pursuit of NDSU's first triple-double of the season.
Montana State (12-12) jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first set and led by as many as 10 points.
North Dakota State's blocking lifted the Bison in the second set. Hebl and Stuewe paired up on three consecutive blocks to put the Bison up 20-12.
NDSU had 10 team blocks for the second straight night. Stuewe joined Hebl with six block assists and Rogers had four.
Montana State countered with an 11-3 run and forced three late ties before clinching a 30-25 win in Game 2.
The teams went back and forth in the third set with NDSU building its largest lead of the game at 16-12.
It was tied at 25 before Montana State got three Kim Stonehouse kills, a Meggie Malyurek kill and service ace, and a Laura Viren kill to complete the three-game sweep.
Stonehouse finished with 13 kills and 14 digs, while Malyurek had 10 kills and 11 digs for the Bobcats.
Hebl, who is 13th on the NDSU all-time kills list, moved her career total to 1,366 and is now just 20 kills behind Brenda Meyer (1989-92) for 12th place in school history.
North Dakota State (1-26) is scheduled to play at South Dakota State on Tuesday, Nov. 1. It will be the first of four road matches next week for the Bison.
