NDSU Volleyball Downs Oral Roberts in Five Sets

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State volleyball team downed Oral Roberts, 3-2, on Thursday night at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse in the annual pink match.

With the win, the Bison (10-4, 4-0 Summit) improve to 4-0 in Summit League play and stayed unbeaten at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse this season with a 7-0 mark. Oral Roberts drops to 2-15 (0-5 Summit) on the season.

Lauren Jansen logged her third double-double in the last five matches with a match-best 17 kills and 14 digs. She also added a .239 hitting percentage with four blocks and three service aces to her stat line. Ally Barth contributed a season-best 10 kills with four blocks and three digs, while Maddy Dombeck posted a team-high 25 assists with six digs.

After the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 2-1 advantage the match, the Bison battled back in the fourth set that saw a match-high 11 ties. Oral Roberts opened up a late 21-19 lead following a 4-1 run capped off by a kill from Hayden Hart. NDSU responded with a 4-1 run of its own to regain the lead, 23-22, with a kill from Emma Tallman. Both teams then traded points until NDSU took advantage of an attack error and used a kill from Jansen to steal the 26-24 win.

NDSU carried the energy into the fifth frame sprinting out to a 7-2 lead to force an Oral Roberts timeout after an attack error. The Bison, who posted a match-best .462 hitting percentage in frame, increased their lead to 14-4 with a block from Barth. NDSU went on to hold off Oral Roberts the rest of the way to win the set, 15-6, and the match, 3-2.

The Bison will be back in action hosting Denver on Saturday. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m., at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
