
Bison Men Start Fast Behind Nelson in 90-56 Exhibition Win

FARGO, N.D.--Mike Nelson scored 17 first-half points and North Dakota State cruised to a 90-56 win over Minnesota State-Moorhead in exhibition college men's basketball Saturday, Nov. 4, before a crowd of 2,163 at the Bison Sports Arena.
Nelson was 3 of 3 from behind the 3-point arc as the Bison shot 53 percent in the first half for a 46-27 lead by intermission.
The Bison finished the game shooting 51 percent, led by the game-high 21 points of guard Ben Woodside. He took over the scoring with 13 points in the second half and finished with seven assists.
Nelson finished with 19 points. Redshirt freshmen Austin Pennick and Sam Sussenguth each chipped in 11 points off the bench for NDSU.
Sussenguth completed a double-double with 11 rebounds, helping NDSU to a 42-34 advantage on the backboards.
Craig Williams had 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting to lead MSU-Moorhead, and teammate Blake Strouth added 12 points.
North Dakota State, which was 16-12 last year, opens the regular season Friday, Nov. 10, at the University of Idaho.
