Box Score FARGO, N.D. (AP)--Brett Winkelman and Ben Woodside combined for 41 points and North Dakota State shot 50 percent in each half Thursday to roll over Western Illinois 86-62 in a Summit League men's basketball game.
With the win, NDSU (12-11, 6-6) improved to 9-1 at Bison Sports Arena. Its only home loss was a 73-71 setback to Oakland, Mich., and the Bison have since won four straight home games.
Winkelman was 9-for-19 from the field and he also grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds to go with 21 points. The Bison had a 49-28 rebounding edge and outscored the Leathernecks 48-18 in the paint.
Woodside was 5-for-8 from the field and made all eight of his free throws to finish with 20 points.
Freddy Coleman added career highs of 11 points and eight rebounds, while Lucas Moormann had a season-best 11 rebounds for NDSU.
James Washington was Western Illinois' only double-digit scorer with 19 points. He had three of the Leathernecks' six 3-pointers.
Western Illinois (11-12, 6-6) shot just 22 percent in the second half and finished the game shooting 30 percent.
North Dakota State hosts IUPUI at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Jaguars (18-5, 10-2) defeated South Dakota State 70-56 behind the 23 points of guard George Hill on Thursday.
