Box Score

BROOKINGS, S.D. - Despite a two-goal performance from junior Abbey Stratton, the North Dakota State soccer team dropped a 4-3 contest to South Dakota State on Saturday, Oct. 31.  The Bison are now 9-7-2 and 6-2 in the Summit League.  South Dakota State is 10-6-2 and 7-2 in the Summit League.  With the win, South Dakota State clinched the top seed in the league tournament and at least a share of the regular season title.

Danni Healy gave the Jacks an early lead when she scored in the 2nd minute.

After sophomore Danielle Boldenow's shot was deflected off the crossbar, freshman Brooklyn Dyce was there to poke in the rebound and tie the game at 1-1 in the 10th minute.

Courtney Higgins helped the Jacks regain the lead in the 36th minute, putting away the shot off a breakaway.

After a Jackrabbit foul, junior Abbey Stratton equalized on the stroke of halftime, scoring on a free kick that ricocheted off the crossbar with one second left in the half.

South Dakota State took a 3-2 lead early in the second half when Kaitlin Justice scored on a rebound shot.

The Bison responded for the third time when Stratton scored her second of the game when she headed in a cross from junior Quin Ryan in the 64th minute to make it a 3-3 game.  It is Stratton's first multi-goal game of her career.

With just under 15 minutes left to play, SDSU's Kayla Braffet gave the home side the lead for good.  The Bison had a couple of late chances to equalize, but couldn't capitalize.

The Bison conclude the regular season Monday, Nov. 2 against Centenary.  Monday's game will be played at UMKC since it was rescheduled from the original Oct. 4 date.
