Box Score KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Despite outshooting UMKC 21-3, the North Dakota State soccer team could not find the back of the net in a 0-0 double overtime draw on Thursday, Oct. 14. The Bison are now 7-4-4 overall and 2-2-1 in the Summit League, while UMKC is 1-11-1 overall and 0-3-1 in league play.
Junior goalie Kalani Bertsch and the Bison picked up their fifth shutout of the season with the tie. UMKC did not take a single shot on goal.
The Bison held a 7-2 edge in shots at halftime and continued to pressure the Kangaroo defense in the second half, notching 12 shots. UMKC goalie Jami Finnell tallied eight saves in the game. Senior Marissa Wolfgram's late chance in regulation was saved by Finnell.
After neither team recorded a shot in the first overtime period, junior Morgan DeMike had the best chance for a late winner, but her shot ricocheted off the post. Sophomore Holly Christian shot at the end of the period was also saved by Finnell.
The Bison also took 14 corner kicks in the game, while UMKC had zero. Senior Candice D'Arcangeli tallied four shots to lead the team.
NDSU continues its road swing Saturday, Oct. 16 at Southern Utah at 2 p.m. Central. The Thunderbirds dropped a 4-3 decision to South Dakota State tonight.
