Box Score 2 COLLEGE STATION, Texas--Brea Konz belted a pair doubles with three RBI to lead North Dakota State University to a 7-3 win over Wright State University, and No. 21/24-ranked Texas A&M blanked the Bison 4-0 on Saturday, March 13, during the second day of the Aggie Invitational at the Aggie Softball Complex. The Bison had a six-game winning streak snapped against the Aggies and 3-1 are in the tournament.
North Dakota State (14-8) is scheduled to close out tournament play against host Texas A&M (20-6) at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, March 14.
The Bison rapped out a season-high 17 hits in the opener against Wright State (6-14) including nine in the six-run first inning. Nicole Rivera and Elisa Victa each had two hits in the opening frame, while Konz delivered a bases-clearing double and Laurel Pipkin stroked a two-run single.
Konz, who went 2 for 3, added her second double in the second inning to put NDSU ahead 7-2.
Rivera went 4 for 5 to lead a group of six North Dakota State players with two or more hits. Victa had three singles, Taylor Lynn had a double and single, and Cristina Borek and Taylor Mortensen each added a pair of singles.
Randi Parks (5-2) benefitted from the NDSU offensive output to record the mound win. Parks gave up nine hits, walked three and had no strikeouts. Wright State used Sharon Palma, Allison Cox and Chelsea Contant on the mound with Palma (4-7) picking up the loss.
Host Texas A&M jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on Rhiannon Kliesing's two-run home run in the first inning. Kliesling went 2 for 4 for the Aggies.
Texas A&M tacked on insurance runs in the third and the seventh innings. Meagan May hit a solo home run in the seventh to extend the lead to 4-0. May went 2 for 3, while Alex Reynolds added a double and single.
Rebecca Arbino tossed a four-hit shutout. Arbino struck out four and issued no walks. Whitney Johnson (9-6) recorded the loss for NDSU. Johnson struck out 11, allowed eight hits and walked four. She reached double-figure strikeouts for the third time this season.
Rivera had two of NDSU four hits and went 6 for 8 in the two games Saturday. Maryssa McKenzie and Konz each added seventh inning singles.
