Smock Competes in Triple Jump at World Championships

DAEGU, South Korea - Former North Dakota State track and field star Amanda (Thieschafer) Smock finished 17th in her qualification group of the triple jump at the IAAF World Championships late Monday night.
The top 12 athletes from the two group, 34-person field advanced to the final. Smock notched her best mark of 44-2 3/4 (13.48m) on her second attempt after fouling on the first and did not qualify for the final.
Smock is the U.S. champion in the triple jump and reached the World Championship standard in her final competition prior to the championships.
She is the first former Bison to compete at the World Championships.
