FARGO, N.D.--Ashley Eide scored 14 of her game-high 20 points in the first half to lead hot-handed South Dakota State University to an 88-52 win over North Dakota State University in a Summit League women's basketball game played Friday, Jan. 20, before 1,788 spectators in the Bison Sports Arena. It was the sixth Katherine Burgum Classic.

First-place South Dakota State improved to 8-1 in the Summit League and 13-7 overall, while North Dakota State dropped 4-5 in the league and 7-14 overall. The Jackrabbits have won four in a row, while the Bison have lost two straight at home.

Eide hit 7 of 11 the field including a pair of three-pointers to spark SDSU, which shot a season-high 56.9 percent from the field including 10 of 16 treys overall.

Eide, who was her team's Classic MVP, also had a game-high seven rebounds as the Jackrabbits held a 40-33 advantage on the glass. SDSU had 12 second chance points.

South Dakota State hit 59.3 percent in the opening period to take a 42-26 halftime lead. The Bison had tied the game early at 8-8 with 16:37 left on a Jamie Van Kirk layup and free throw. SDSU then went on a 15-5 run over the next six minutes and never looked back.

Ten of 11 players who rotated in for South Dakota State scored during the contest. Jennie Sonnarborg netted 17 points, while Steph Paluch and Rachel Walters each added 10 points. Walters nailed 3 of 5 three-pointers. SDSU scored 19 points off a dozen Bison turnovers.

Janae Burich led North Dakota State with 12 points and five rebounds, while freshman Danielle Muri scored a career-high 10 points and added six rebounds. Muri was selected the Bison Classic MVP.
