
Bison Roll over Valley City State in Season Opener, 93-47

North Dakota State junior guard Mike Felt came off the bench to score a career-high 23 points and lead the Bison men's basketball team to a 93-47 victory over Valley City State in NDSU's season opener on Friday, Nov. 9 in the Bison Sports Arena.
Felt connected on 6-of-9 attempts from three-point range and 8-of-12 shots overall to lead all scorers. Junior Taylor Braun scored 19 points, and Chris Kading and Marshall Bjorklund chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Bison posted a commanding 42-16 rebounding advantage, with Braun leading the way with eight boards.
North Dakota State (1-0) trailed 5-4 just over two minutes into the game but responded with a 30-2 run over the next 12 minutes. With six minutes remaining in the first half, the Bison owned a 34-7 lead.
Sophomore Lawrence Alexander tallied six points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists.
Senior guard Nate Zastrow matched his career high with six assists in the game.
North Dakota State shot a blistering 59.0 percent (36-of-61) for the contest and held Valley City State to 32.7 percent from the floor. The Bison drained 10-of-22 attempts from beyond the arc.
The 93-point scoring output by NDSU was its highest since scoring 96 in a victory over Oakland on Dec. 28, 2011.
North Dakota State will travel to Bloomington, Ind., to take on preseason No. 1 Indiana at 6 p.m. (CT) on Monday, Nov. 12.
