FARGO, N.D. - Zach Vraa caught four passes for 100 yards and a touchdown, and Brock Jensen passed for a career-high 259 yards as No. 1-ranked North Dakota State rolled to a 56-10 win over Ferris State on Saturday, Sept. 7, before a crowd of 18,979 at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.

NDSU scored the first 35 points of the game including Vraa's 43-yard touchdown catch from Jensen late in the first quarter that made it 21-0.  Ferris State went 75 yards in seven plays and scored its only touchdown on a 19-yard pass from Jason Vander Laan to Dewayne Boston eight seconds before halftime to make it 35-7.

John Crockett scored twice on touchdown runs of seven and five yards, senior fullback Andrew Grothmann scored his first career touchdown on a 4-yard pass from Jensen in the second quarter, and Chase Morlock ran for 39 yards all on a 10-play scoring drive in the fourth quarter that ended with his nine-yard TD run.

Grant Olson led the Bison defense with 14 tackles including one sack, CJ Smith returned an interception 33 yards and Zach Colvin had a 44-yard interception return for a touchdown that provided the final margin of 56-10.

NDSU outgained Ferris State 426-343 in total offense but surrendered 228 yards rushing.  Bulldog quarterback Jason Vander Laan, who set a conference record for rushing yards by a QB last year, ran 18 times for 100 yards to lead the ground attack.  He was 7 of 14 through the air for 56 yards.

North Dakota State is off next week and returns to Gate City Bank Field to host Delaware State at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21.
