Erin Teschuk continued her dominant cross country season on Saturday, winning the UND Ron Pynn Invitational and lifting the North Dakota State women to the team championship for the third consecutive season.
Teschuk completed the five-kilometer course at Ray Richards Golf Course in a personal-best 17:19.3 – the third-fastest 5k performance in NDSU cross country history. It was the second individual title this season for Teschuk, who also won the Bison Open on Aug. 29.
The Bison women claimed the team crown with their top five runners placing first, third, fourth, seventh and eighth overall. NDSU finished with 23 points in the team race, topping host North Dakota by a 24-point margin. Each of the top eight runners for NDSU registered lifetime-best performances in the 5k.
Sophomore
Taylor Janssen placed third in 18:05.5, and junior
Paige Stratioti took fourth in 18:07.4. Junior
Ashley Heinze, running in just the second cross country race of her career, earned a seventh-place finish in 18:24.9. Sophomore
Tarin Lachowitzer completed the scoring in 18:26.3 for eighth place.
Stratioti cut 1 minute, 14 seconds off her previous best in the 5k. Janssen trimmed 59 seconds off her personal best.
NDSU hosts the Summit League Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Rose Creek Golf Course in Fargo.
