North Dakota State sophomore Erin Teschuk will run at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, Nov. 22. The women's six-kilometer race is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. (ET)/11 a.m. (CT) at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.
A live feed of the Division I women's and men's races will be available on NCAA.com. The top 40 finishers for each gender earn All-American status.
Teschuk became the first NDSU athlete to qualify for the NCAA Division I Championships in cross country by taking second place out of 222 runners in the NCAA Midwest Regional in Peoria, Ill., on Nov. 14. She completed the 6k in 20:07.4 to break her own school record for that distance by 55 seconds.
Teschuk's bid to the NCAA Championships is the latest in a string of individual accomplishments this season. She opened with a victory at the Bison Open in August, set the 6k school record at Stanford in September, won the UND Ron Pynn Invitational in October, and captured the Summit League title on Nov. 1.
The NCAA Cross Country Championships consist of 31 teams of seven runners each, plus an additional 38 individual qualifiers. All 255 women's competitors run in one race.
The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native will be a junior for the Bison in track for the upcoming 2015 seasons, but is only a sophomore in cross country due to redshirting her freshman year in the fall of 2012. In outdoor track, she was the Summit League champion and an NCAA West Preliminary Rounds qualifier in the 3,000m steeplechase in 2014. Teschuk ranks second in NDSU history in the 1500m and is third all-time in the steeplechase.
