FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University women's soccer team improved to 9-5-0 overall and a perfect 4-0-0 in Summit League play after claiming a 1-0 shutout victory over South Dakota (4-10-0, 1-2-0 Summit League) in double overtime on Sunday, Oct. 11, at Dacotah Field.

It's the best start to league competition for NDSU since 2011, when the Bison won six consecutive league matches before tying Kansas City.

Freshman Britney Monteon netted the game-winner for the Bison in the 105th-minute of the match, powering a pass from junior Lauren Miller into the far left corner of the goal. It was Monteon's second goal of the season and Miller's fifth assist.

Senior goalkeeper Sierra Bonham improved to 9-5-0 overall with the win and tallied her fifth shutout of the season after surrendering no goals and making a match-high five saves in 104-plus minutes.

For the match, South Dakota outshot the Bison, 17-14, while NDSU led in corner kicks, 8-2.

Courtney Baker and Brittney Baker led the Coyotes with two shots on goal each.

USD goalkeeper Sydney Hardin made four saves, but took the loss to fall to 4-6-0 on the season between the pipes.

North Dakota State is scheduled to return to action on Sunday, Oct. 18, at South Dakota State. First kick from Brookings, S.D., is slated for 1 p.m.
