DENVER – Junior Lauren Miller netted a goal in the 108th-minute of the match to complete her second hat trick of the season and lift the North Dakota State University women's soccer team (8-5-0, 3-0-0 Summit League) to a 4-3 double overtime win at Denver (0-10-1, 0-2-0 Summit League) on Friday, Oct. 9, in front of 914 spectators at CIBER Field in Denver.

With the trio of goals, Miller increased her team and Summit League-high goal count to 12 and moved into third-place for goals in a career at North Dakota State with 31, passing former Bison Michelle Martinez, who tallied 30 from 2004-07.

Sophomore Brittany Mueller netted the other goal for the Bison, while junior Amy Yang dished out two assists. It was Mueller's first collegiate goal and Yang's team-high sixth and seventh assists of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Sierra Bonham tallied a match-high nine saves in goal and went the full 107-plus minutes to tally the win and move to 8-5-0 overall on the season.

North Dakota State took a 1-0 lead on Miller's first goal of the match in the 28th-minute. The St. Louis Park, Minn., native controlled a pass from junior Amy Yang and curled it into the bottom left corner of the goal.

The Pioneers answered, though, netting two goals in the 29th and 36th minutes to gain a 2-1 advantage.

Miller equalized for the Bison three minutes later in the 39th minute, netting her second goal of the contest when she placed a shot in the lower left corner of the goal off Yang's second assist.

The Bison briefly regained a 3-2 lead in the 80th-minute when Mueller's shot from 35 yards out hit the crossbar and bounced over the goal line, but Denver leveled the score, 3-3, with a goal less than a minute later.

Bonham made four critical saves in the final 10 minutes of regulation to send the contest into extra time.

NDSU had a chance to win the match in the first extra time period, but freshman Mallory Fenske's shot in the 99th-minute was stopped by Denver goalkeeper Cassidy Rey, forcing an additional 10 minutes of sudden-death extra time.

After a Denver substitution in the 107th-minute, Miller took control of the ball, dribbled past three Pioneer defenders, and placed her shot into the low left section of the goal, securing the Bison victory.

For the match, North Dakota State outshot Denver, 24-20, and posted a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.

North Dakota State is scheduled to return home to Dacotah Field to host the University of South Dakota in a Summit League match on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m.
