About Montana: The Grizzlies were picked first by the media and second by the coaches in the Big Sky Conference preseason poll. Montana returns six lettermen and five starters from last season's team that posted a 22-13 record. Leading the returning class is senior forward Martin Breunig, who averaged 16.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game last year and was a unanimous first team All-Big Sky selection.
Breunig is averaging 14.7 points and 9.3 boards through the first three games of the season. Junior guard Brandon Gfeller is next on Montana with 13.7 points per contest.
Montana head coach Travis DeCuire is in his second season at the helm of the program after spending six seasons as an assistant at California.
About North Carolina A&T: The Aggies were picked to finish sixth in the preseason MEAC poll. They are off to an 0-5 start to the season, including losses on the road at Purdue and Florida. The Aggies are coming off a 9-23 season where they went 6-10 in the MEAC.
Senior forward Bruce Beckford was a preseason all-conference selection, and he currently leads North Carolina A&T with 18.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Sam Hunt is scoring 9.5 points per game off the bench.
North Carolina A&T head coach Cy Alexander is in his fourth season after previous stops at South Carolina State and Tennessee State.
Series History: Montana leads the all-time series with the Bison, 6-2. The two teams met for the first time in 26 years last December in Missoula, with the Griz earning a 69-57 victory.
NDSU and North Carolina A&T have never played each other in basketball. The Bison defeated Hampton 74-66 in Fargo on Nov. 22 last season in their most recent game against a MEAC opponent.
Home Court: With 26 straight home wins, the Bison are tied with Kansas for the sixth-longest active home court winning streak in the nation. NDSU is 39-2 at home since the start of the 2012-13 season, with the only two losses being to Southern Miss (70-69) on Nov. 18, 2013, and Western Illinois (49-36) on Feb. 14, 2013.
High Level: NDSU is one of only nine mid-major programs in the country to post at least 23 victories in each of the last three seasons. Wichita State, Gonzaga, VCU, Stephen F. Austin, BYU, Louisiana Tech, Stony Brook and New Mexico State are the other eight.
Hot Start: Sophomore guard Paul Miller scored a career-high 20 points in the season opener at UC Davis on Nov. 13, then followed up with 19 points at Illinois on Nov. 15. The Waukesha, Wis., native is averaging 18.7 points through three contests.
Brown Delivers: Senior guard Kory Brown is shooting 65 percent from the floor this season while averaging 10 points and 7 rebounds per game.
Good Company: NDSU head coach David Richman is among the most successful coaches in the country who are under 40 years old. His .694 win percentage ranks fourth behind only Shaka Smart (Texas, .741), Mike White (Florida, .720) and Josh Pastner (Memphis, .718).
Comeback Win: Trailing 69-60 with less than two minutes remaining in the season opener at UC Davis last Friday, the Bison scored 19 straight points – nine in a row to force overtime, and then 10 more to open the overtime period. NDSU won the game, 79-71.
Offensive Spark: Sophomore guard Malik Clements, a transfer from Pearl River Community College (Miss.), provided NDSU an offensive spark off the bench in his first two Division I games. He scored 13 points in 18 minutes at UC Davis on Nov. 13 and came back to score 16 points in 26 minutes two days later at Illinois. Clements drained six total three-pointers between the two games.
Bison Debuts: Guard Khy Kabellis and forwards Spencer Eliason and Dylan Miller joined Clements in making their NDSU debuts on the season opening road trip. Kabellis and Miller are true freshmen, while Eliason sat out last season as a redshirt.
Three-Point Increase: NDSU attempted 23 and 27 three-pointers in its first two games of the season. The Bison only shot 23 or more three-pointers in a game seven times last year.
Double-Doubles: Senior Kory Brown (10 points, 10 rebounds) and junior Dexter Werner (16 points, 12 rebounds) both registered double-doubles in the season-opening win at UC Davis. It was the third double-double of Brown's career and Werner's second.
Champions: NDSU swept the Summit League regular season and tournament titles three times in a seven-year span (2009, 2014, 2015), winning a school-record 26 games in both 2008-09 and 2013-14.
Best Ever: With 73 victories over the past three seasons, the Bison had the most successful three-year stretch in program history.
In the Classroom: NDSU was one of only six Division I schools to play in the 2015 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament while owning a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better.
Quick Learner: David Richman's 23 wins in the 2014-15 season were the most in the country by any first-year Division I head coach.
Winners: Seniors Kory Brown and Chris Kading both enter the 2015-16 season with 71 career victories. The NDSU all-time record for wins belongs to Lawrence Alexander, who won 90 games from 2011-15.
