Jackson, Govig Lead Group of Bison Women in Heptathlon at UC Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – North Dakota State sophomore Rose Jackson placed third in the heptathlon at the UC Riverside Spring Track Classic on Friday, scoring 4,945 points. Bison junior Ann Govig finished in fifth place with a career-best total of 4,440 points.
Jackson and Govig led a group of six NDSU women in the heptathlon, as freshman Amanda Levin placed sixth, sophomore Deidre Hahn took eighth, sophomore Lexy Boschee was ninth, and freshman Jaelin Beachy finished 14th.
It was the third-best heptathlon point total of Jackson's young career. She opened the second day of competition with a leap of 17-09.00 (5.41m) in the long jump and wrapped up the meet with the fastest 800m in the pentathlon field at 2:20.12.
Govig registered a big personal-best throw of 100-4 (30.60m) in the javelin and closed with the second-fastest 800m in 2:21.42.
Levin totaled 4,400 points in her heptathlon debut.
Jackson already ranks sixth in NDSU history in the event with her score of 5,025 at the USA Junior Championships last season.
Field events get started at noon (CT) on Saturday, and running events will begin at 3 p.m.
