Ninth Inning Rally Comes Up Short as NDSU Baseball Falls at Northern Colorado, 11-10

GREELEY, Colo. – The North Dakota State baseball team (1-9) scored two runs with two outs in the ninth inning, but fell short in their comeback bid, falling to Northern Colorado (2-3) in the opening game of a four-game series at Jackson Field on Friday, March 6, 11-10.

The Bison and Bears are scheduled to continue the series with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon MT (1 p.m. CT).

John Skrbec led the Bison offense, going 4-for-5 at the plate with five RBI. Mason Pierzchalski, Brayden Resch, Ben Petersen, Danny Regan and Taylor Sanders each added a RBI in the contest.

David Ernst (1-3) took the loss on the mound for North Dakota State after surrendering seven earned runs on 13 hits while striking out five and walking three.

With two outs in the ninth inning, Skrbec began the NDSU rally, singling home Resch to trim the deficit to 11-9. Sanders plated the Bison's second run of the frame on a RBI single that plated Skrbec, cutting the Northern Colorado advantage to 11-10.

Jensen Park went 4-for-5 in the batter's box and drove in three runs to lead the Bears, while Spencer Applebach (1-0) picked up the win on the mound.
