NDSU Alum Dolezal Earns Silver Medal at Pan Am Games

TORONTO – North Dakota State alum and current Bison volunteer assistant track & field coach Riley Dolezal recorded a season-best throw to earn a silver medal in the javelin at the 2015 Pan American Games on Friday evening.
Dolezal, who competed for NDSU from 2005-09, threw a season-best 267-9 (81.62m) to finish in second place. Reigning Olympic champion Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad & Tobago won with a throw of 273-2 (83.27m).
Dolezal's mark was the second-best throw of his career, behind only his lifetime-best toss of 273-11 (83.50m) that won him the 2013 USA championship.
This was Dolezal's first international medal as a member of Team USA.
Dolezal, a native of Stanley, N.D., needs to throw 82.00 meters or better before Aug. 10 to meet the qualifying standard for the IAAF World Championships to be held in Beijing, China, at the end of August. He currently ranks 40th in the world this year in the javelin.
