Dakota Classic Opens 2017 Track Season for North Dakota State Friday

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's track & field team will open the 2017 indoor season by hosting the Dakota Classic inside the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility on Friday, Dec. 2, and Saturday, Dec. 3.
Multi-events competition kicks off at 1 p.m. with the heptathlon 60m dash, field events start with the men's weight throw at 2 p.m., and running events will begin at 5:30 p.m. The men's heptathlon will start on Friday and resume for the final three events at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
PARKING: Those attending the meet may park in the RF lot just south of Sanford Health Athletic Complex and east of the track facility.
NDSU will be joined by the University of Mary and MSU-Moorhead in the season-opening meet. The meet will also feature a Mini-Bison 60-meter dash open to boys and girls ages 10 and under.
The Bison men return eight individual all-league performers from the 2016 indoor season in Ryan Enerson, Landon Jochim, Matt Neururer, Payton Otterdahl, Alex Renner, Conrad Schwarzkopf, Steffan Stroh and Jonah Warwick. NDSU also returns multiple members of the all-league 4x400m and distance medley relays.
Schwarzkopf (weight throw) and Renner (shot put) are the NDSU school record holders in the indoor throwing events.
The NDSU men swept the awards stand in the shot put, weight throw and heptathlon at the Summit League Indoor Championships last season on the way to capturing the team title.
