The Game: The North Dakota State men's basketball team (9-5, 1-0 Summit) hosts the Omaha Mavericks (7-7, 0-1) at the Scheels Center on Saturday, Dec. 31. The Bison will look to avenge a pair of losses to Omaha last season, including a home defeat that snapped NDSU's 31-game home win streak.

About Omaha: The Mavericks went 7-6 in non-conference play and opened Summit League play with an 86-69 loss at South Dakota on Thursday night. Omaha is 4-6 on the road this season, including a 98-89 victory over Iowa.
Junior forward Tre'Shawn Thurman leads Omaha in scoring (13.9 ppg) and rebounding (7.9 rpg) while shooting 48 percent from the field. Senior guard Marcus Tyus is scoring 12.9 points per game, and senior Tra-Deon Hollins is averaging 6.4 assists and 2.9 steals per contest.
Head coach Derrin Hansen is in his 12th season at Omaha. The Mavericks finished with a record of 18-14 overall and 10-6 in The Summit League last season, advancing to the CBI.
The Series with Omaha: Saturday will be the 76th meeting between North Dakota State and Omaha dating back to 1935-36. NDSU has a 45-30 lead in the series. The Bison had won seven in a row over the Mavericks until Omaha's 91-82 victory in Fargo on Jan. 7 of last season that broke NDSU's 31-game home win streak.
Streak Snappers: The Bison snapped South Dakota State's 34-game home win streak on Dec. 28 with an 80-69 comeback victory in Brookings. SDSU's run was the 2nd-longest active streak in the nation -- and it started following an NDSU win in Frost Arena on Jan. 25, 2014.
Take Care: NDSU committed only eight turnovers against South Dakota State on Wednesday -- a season-low for the Bison vs. D-I opponents.
Second Half Domination: NDSU outscored SDSU 58-32 in the second half on Wednesday, holding the Jackrabbits without a made field goal for a stretch of nearly 10 minutes, from 14:51 until 5:12 remaining in the game.
Big Production: Over the last six games, senior forward
Dexter Werner is averaging 13.7 points and 10.7 rebounds per game and shooting 74 percent.
Scoring Defense: The Bison lead The Summit League in scoring defense, allowing 65.6 points per game through 14 games.
Khy's Career High: Khy Kabellis scored a career-high 21 points the last time the Bison played Omaha -- a 76-69 road loss on Feb. 13 last season. Kabellis made 8-of-10 shots and 3-of-4 attempts from three-point range in the game.
Improved Shooting: NDSU is an improved shooting team compared to this point last season. Through 13 games last year, the Bison were shooting 42.4 percent. This year, NDSU is shooting 46.6 percent.
Home Court: NDSU is 54-4 at home since the start of the 2012-13 season. The Bison set a then-Summit League record with 31 consecutive home wins from Dec. 2, 2013, to Jan. 3, 2016.
Into the Top 10: Junior
A.J. Jacobson entered NDSU's career top 10 in three-pointers made at North Dakota on Dec. 16. Jacobson ranks 10th on the NDSU all-time list with 130 treys.
Shooters: Seven different Bison players made a three-pointer in the win at North Dakota on Dec. 16. Against South Dakota State on Dec. 28, four different Bison each made at least three treys.
Dexter Steals the Show: Dexter Werner leads NDSU with 23 steals already this season. His previous high for an entire season was 25 steals in the 2015-16 campaign.
50 Career Wins: NDSU head coach
David Richman earned his 50th career victory on Dec. 14 when the Bison topped UC Davis, 74-70. Richman is the third-fastest coach in school history to 50 wins (77 games), and the quickest Bison coach to 50 since the 1930s.
