The North Dakota State men's track & field team is headed to California this weekend to compete in two meets on Friday, Apr. 1, and Saturday, Apr. 2.
The Bison men will take part in the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, Calif., and the San Francisco State Distance Carnival in San Francisco on both days.
NDSU has the top performer in The Summit League in three of the four throwing events this season. Junior Alex Renner leads the league in both the shot put and hammer throw, while junior Matti Mortimore is No. 1 in the javelin.
The Bison also have several other league leaders early this year, including Brock Larson (decathlon), Beau Kashmark (high jump) and Aron Klos (400m hurdles).
Larson tops the group of NDSU athletes on the national performance list, standing at No. 9 in the NCAA in the decathlon. Mortimore is ranked 14th in the javelin, and Renner is 17th on the national list in the shot put.
NDSU alum and current volunteer assistant coach Riley Dolezal is also scheduled to open his 2016 season at the Stanford Invitational, throwing in the invitational section of the men's javelin at 3:30 p.m. CT / 1:30 p.m. PT on Friday.
