LONG BEACH, Calif. – The North Dakota State men's track & field team turned in impressive performances at a trio of meets in southern California on Thursday. The Bison men's throwers competed at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate hosted by Long Beach State, the decathletes were at the California Invitational Multi-Events in Azusa, and a pair of distance runners opened NDSU's action at the Mt. SAC Relays.
Sophomore Steffan Stroh led the way for the Bison throwers, posting a pair of marks that rank among the best in school history. In the discus, Stroh climbed to No. 2 all-time at NDSU with a personal-best toss of 177-8 (54.16m) – an improvement of more than 11 feet from his previous best. He added three feet to his personal-best in the hammer with a mark of 198-10 (60.62m) to rank sixth in NDSU history.
The NDSU men finished 3-4-5 in the hammer throw at Long Beach State with Stroh, Conrad Schwarzkopf (197-0 / 60.06m) and Alex Renner (196-0 / 59.74m). Sophomore Payton Otterdahl finished seventh in the discus at 166-7 (50.79m).
