NDSU Baseball Drops Midweek Contest at No. 25 Minnesota Tuesday

MINNEAPOLIS – The North Dakota State University baseball team suffered a 10-0 loss at 25th-ranked Minnesota on Tuesday, April 19, at Siebert Field in Minneapolis.
North Dakota State (17-17) is scheduled to host Valley City State University in a non-league game on Wednesday, April 20, at 6:30 p.m. at Newman Outdoor Field.
Sophomore Drew Fearing went 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple to lead NDSU, while redshirt-sophomore Logan Busch tallied a double.
NDSU right-handed relief pitcher Brian VanderWoude (6-2) took the loss on the mound for the Bison after surrendering three earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings. North Dakota State starter Jordan Harms went four innings and gave up no earned runs on just two hits with a pair of strikeouts and no walks.
The game was scoreless until Minnesota plated seven runs on seven hits in the bottom of the seventh-inning to open up a 7-0 advantage over the Bison.
The Golden Gophers added three more runs in the bottom of the eighth-inning to build their lead to 10-0.
Second baseman Connor Schaefbauer and catcher Cole McDevitt both compiled three hits and drove in two runs to lead the Golden Gophers.
Reliever Ty McDevitt (2-0) earned the win for Minnesota after allowing no hits with two strikeouts and no walks in an inning of work.
