Otterdahl Extends NDSU Weight Throw Record at UND Indoor Tune-Up

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Bison junior Payton Otterdahl extended his school record in the weight throw to headline the performances of the North Dakota State men's track & field team at the UND Indoor Tune-Up on Saturday, Feb. 18.
Otterdahl improved his own record in the weight throw by three inches, reaching a mark of 68-09.75 (20.97m). The junior from Rosemount, Minn., ranks 23rd in the NCAA this season in the event.
Bison sophomore Daniel Asa took first place in the 60m hurdles, running a personal-best 8.69 seconds.
A pair of unattached NDSU freshmen won events on Saturday. Alex Talley (West Fargo, N.D.) won the shot put with a throw of 55-02.25 (16.82m) – a mark that would rank him eighth in school history. Tim Heikkila (Maple, Wis.) won the mile in 4:17.72, and redshirt freshman Evan Kottsick took second place in 4:18.63.
NDSU senior Angus Stoudt won the pole vault, clearing a personal-best 14-03.50 (4.36m).
Jonah Warwick was the runner-up in the 800m in a season-best 1:53.37. Junior Brian Ferry took runner-up honors in the 600m, finishing in a personal-best time of 1:22.88.
The NDSU men will attempt to defend their Summit League indoor team title at the Summit League Indoor Championships in Brookings, S.D., on Feb. 24-25.
