The North Dakota State men's track & field team will travel to the Summit League Indoor Track & Field Championships in Brookings, S.D., this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24-25. The Bison will be in search of their second consecutive Summit League indoor title and their sixth league indoor championship overall.
The meet begins with multi-events action at 9:30 a.m. both days. Running events begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday.
As in recent years, the Bison men will look to score large amounts of team points in the throwing events and heptathlon. NDSU has six of the top seven Summit League performers in the shot put this season, led by defending champion Alex Renner who is ranked in the NCAA's top 10. The Bison also have the league's top four performers in the weight throw and six of the top seven in the heptathlon, with defending champions Conrad Schwarzkopf and Ryan Enerson returning.
Junior Landon Jochim is the defending champion and league leader in the 400m dash, with teammate Jacob Richter ranking second in the league. Junior Jake Leingang looks to make an impact at his first Summit League meet, as he owns the top entry times in the mile, 3000m and 5000m.
The Bison men racked up 183 points in the team standings last year to win the school's first indoor team title since 2011. South Dakota State was the runner-up with 145.5 points, and Oral Roberts took third with 132 points.
GoBison.com will have video highlights and complete updates at the conclusion of each day of competition. Live updates on placing and team scoring can be found on Twitter at @NDSUTrackField.
