DES MOINES, Iowa – The North Dakota State men's track & field team closed out competition at the 108th Drake Relays on Saturday.
One day after earning three of the top five spots in the shot put, the Bison men placed three in the top six of the hammer throw. Senior Alex Renner (200-10 / 61.22m) and Steffan Stroh (200-1 / 61.00m) finished second and third, respectively. Conrad Schwarzkopf took sixth with a toss of 195-2 (59.50m).
Matt Jennings, Brian Ferry, Tim Heikkila and Camron Roehl ran the 10th-fastest distance medley in NDSU history, finishing 12th in 10:04.71. Roehl clocked an impressive 4:12 on the 1600m anchor leg, closing out the fastest distance medley by the Bison in five years.
Karter Gorney, J.T. Butler, Landon Jochim and Byrne Curl teamed up to take fifth in the sprint medley relay, running 3:27.06.
Junior Brant Gilbertson finished 11th in the 3000m steeplechase, clocking 9:17.17. Junior Aron Klos was 14th in the 400m hurdles in 54.91.
The Bison finished seventh in the 4x110m shuttle hurdle relay with the quartet of Ryan Enerson, Ben Klimpke, Angus Stoudt and Matt Moberg.
The Bison will compete next on Friday, May 5, when they host the NDSU Tune-Up.
