
Deborah John Qualifies for World Championships in 100m Hurdles

Former North Dakota State All-American hurdler Deborah John will represent Trinidad & Tobago at the IAAF World Championships in London on Aug. 11.
John will race in the prelims of the 100m hurdles at 10:45 a.m. local time / 4:45 a.m. (CT) on Friday, Aug. 11, with the semifinals being held later that same day. She becomes the third NDSU alum to compete in the World Championships in the past three years, joining Erin Teschuk (Canada, steeplechase) and Riley Dolezal (United States, javelin).
John has captured four consecutive Trinidad & Tobago national titles in the 100m hurdles, winning each year from 2014-17. She will be one of only 43 athletes to compete in the 100m hurdles at the World Championships.
The NDSU school record holder in the 60m hurdles (8.23) and 100m hurdles (13.24), John also owns the eight fastest 100m hurdles performances in NDSU history. She clocked a personal-best time of 13.07 in the 100m hurdles in 2016 and has a season-best time of 13.10 this year.
