FARGO, N.D. – According to statistics released by the NCAA this week, the North Dakota State men's basketball team recorded the 11th-largest attendance increase in the nation for the 2016-17 season.
The average attendance for Bison home games increased by 1,054 over the 2015-16 season, as NDSU's average home attendance was its best since 1994-95.
NDSU averaged 4,205 fans against Division I opponents in 2016-17 – the best mark in The Summit League. NDSU also led The Summit League in overall attendance and attendance for league games.
The Bison had eight games with 4,000-plus in attendance, which is more than both the 2008-09 season (five games) and the 2013-14 season (four games) in which NDSU advanced to the NCAA Tournament with highly-touted teams.
The Bison are 37-3 at home since David Richman was hired as head coach in 2014. Richman's .646 overall winning percentage is the second-best by an NDSU coach since the 1920s.
