Bison Men’s Cross Country Voted 2nd in Summit League Preseason Poll

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The North Dakota State men's cross country team has been voted second in The Summit League's preseason cross country poll released Monday.
Defending champion South Dakota State was picked as the preseason favorite, earning the maximum six first-place votes. The Bison were voted second in front of South Dakota, North Dakota, Purdue Fort Wayne, Western Illinois and Oral Roberts.
Bison senior Elliott Stone was named an "Athlete to Watch" by the league's head coaches after placing fifth at the Summit League Championships last season. Stone has finished in the top 12 at the conference meet in each of his three seasons at NDSU.
The Bison bring back five of their top seven runners from last season's conference and regional meets with Stone, juniors Evan Kottsick and Connor Schank, and sophomores Tim Heikkila and Alex Bartholomay. NDSU also returns senior Camron Roehl coming off a redshirt season.
The 2018 cross country season begins Aug. 31 with NDSU hosting the Bison Open at Rose Creek Golf Course in Fargo. The Summit League Championships are scheduled for Oct. 27 in Omaha, Neb.
