FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's cross country team will host the Summit League Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Rose Creek Golf Course in south Fargo. The women's six-kilometer race is scheduled for 2 p.m., following the men's 8k at 1 p.m. (Updated times due to course conditions) Admission is free.
The Bison women will be attempting to win their first Summit League team title since 2013. South Dakota has won the past five conference team championships.
NDSU nearly pulled an upset victory last season, missing out on the team title by the slimmest of margins. South Dakota won with 51 points, while the Bison women came in second with 52.
Bison junior Kelby Anderson returns as NDSU's top contender after taking third as a freshman in 2017 and placing second as a sophomore last season. Anderson has led the Bison at all four meets this season, most recently setting the school record in the cross country 5k at the UND Ron Pynn Classic on Oct. 19.
NDSU's most recent Summit League cross country individual title was won by Erin Teschuk in 2015.
After Anderson, junior Jen Dufner is NDSU's top returner from last year's conference meet. Dufner placed eighth at the Summit League Championships last season. Junior Brynnan Covington finished 12th a year ago, and sophomore Mikayla Koenig was 26th in her conference meet debut.
