
McCorkle Sets Records En Route to Lady Thunderbird Title

ST. GEORGE, Utah - Sophomore Taylor McCorkle set the North Dakota State women's golf record for lowest 18 and 36-hole rounds, as she won the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational on Friday, March 15.
McCorkle shot a 65 in the final round, breaking Amy Anderson's record of 66 from March 13, 2012 at the Jackrabbit Invitational. She finished with a 141, which broke teammate Emma Groom's 36-hole record of 143 set at last year's Kansas City Intercollegiate on April 10, 2018. McCorkle won the tournament with a two-stroke lead over Southern Utah's Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan.
Camryn Roadley finished in a tie for 28th, as her 78 in the final round gave her a 155 for the two rounds. Groom shot a 78 for the second-straight day, as she finished in a tie for 33rd with a 156.
Alexis Thomas shot an 80 in the final round, as she tied for 36th with a 157. Sierra Bennion rounded out the lineup for the Bison, as she shot a 78 in the second round. Bennion tied for 41st with a 159 for the two days.
The Bison had three players entered as individuals. Lexi Geolat and Maddie Herzog tied for 49th with a 160. Geolat shot a 78 in the final round, while Herzog shot a 77. Katelyn Martin shot a 77 in the final round, as she tied for 73rd with a 166.
NDSU shot a 299 in the final round, finishing in sixth with a 607. The 607 over 36 holes is the third-best score in school history.
The Bison return to action on March 23 at the Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona, Ariz.
