Herzog Second After Opening Day of Red Rocks Invitational

First/Second Round Results
CORNVILLE, Ariz. - Maddie Herzog had one of the best rounds in North Dakota State women's golf history on Saturday, as she sits in a tie for second after the first two rounds of the Red Rocks Invitational. The Bison shot the second best round in school history in the first round as well.
Playing as an individual, Herzog had the best round of her career in the opening round by firing a 69. She had four birdies in the opening round, but she was just getting started for the day. Herzog followed up her 69 with a 67 in the second round, tied for the third lowest round in school history. Herzog had four more birdies in the second round, while adding a pair of eagles to sit in a tie for second with a 136.
Alexis Thomas shot a season-low 69 in the first round with seven birdies, as she sits in a tie for 22nd after the opening day. Thomas had a pair of birdies en route to a 76 in the second round. Emma Groom is currently tied for 35th with rounds of 76 and 71. Groom had a pair of birdies in the first round and three in the second round.
Taylor McCorkle is tied for 51st, as she shot a 73 in the first round and a 77 in the second round. McCorkle had two birdies in the opening round and one in the second. Sierra Bennion and Camryn Roadley are tied for 61st after the first day. Bennion had a career-low 69 in the first round with five birdies before shooting an 82 in the second round with a pair of birdies. Roadley had a 74 in the first round before shooting a 77 in the second round. Roadley had five birdies on the day, including three in the second round.
The Bison are in ninth place as a team after the first two rounds. NDSU shot a 285 in the opening round, its best of the season and the second best in school history. NDSU followed that with a 301 in the second round. Gonzaga is in first as a team with a 569 after shooting a 277 in the opening round. Montana State's Delaney Elliott leads the individual race after the first day with rounds of 67 and 68.
Play resumes at 10:30 a.m. (Central) on Sunday for the final round at Agave Highlands.
