Israelson Finishes Fourth at Grand Canyon Invitational

PHOENIX, Ariz. - North Dakota State junior Andrew Israelson shot a season-low 67 on Saturday, as he recorded his first top-five finish of the season at the Grand Canyon Men's Golf Invitational.
With his 67 in the final round, Israelson tied for fourth with a 207 for the three rounds in Arizona. With seven birdies on the day, Israelson notched his fourth career top-five finish. Van Holmgren shot a 74 on the final day, as he tied for 14th with a 210. Lucas Johnson shot a 72 in the third round, as his two birdies on the final day put him in a tie for 37th with a 216 for the weekend.
Nate Deziel had four birdies on the final round, as he shot a career-low 72. Deziel finished in a tie for 66th on the weekend with a 220. Will Holmgren rounded out the lineup for the Bison, as he had a pair of birdies on the final day. W. Holmgren shot a 76 in the third round, as he finished with a 231.
Playing as individuals, Jed Baranczyk and Dax Wallat tied for 88th with a 225 apiece. Wallat had a 72 in the final round, while Baranczyk shot a 76. Both Baranczyk and Wallat had three birdies in the final round.
The Bison finished in a tie for seventh with an 853 for the three rounds. NDSU shot a 285 in the final round, the third lowest score of the year. UMKC won the team title with an 829, beating UT Rio Grande Valley by 14 strokes. UMKC's McCain Schellhardt and Columbia's Derek Kim tied for first with a 205.
NDSU returns to action on April 8 at the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate in Nashville, Tenn.
