Van Holmgren Second After Opening Round of Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - North Dakota State sophomore Van Holmgren is tied for second after the first round of the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate. In the final tune-up for the NDSU men's golf team before the Summit League Championships, the event was shortened to 36 holes due to weather in the Nashville area.
With a first round 69, Holmgren sits in a three-way tie for second after the opening round. He is just a shot off the lead of Charles Jahn from Bradley. Holmgren had four birdies on the day and an eagle on the par five 10th hole. Lucas Johnson is tied for 38th after shooting a 75 in the first round. Johnson finished with three birdies on the day.
Andrew Israelson and Nate Deziel are tied for 73rd, as they both shot an 80 in the first round. Israelson birdied the par three sixth hole. Will Holmgren rounded out the Bison lineup, as he sits in a tie for 78th with an 82 in the first round. W. Holmgren had a birdie on the 10th hole.
NDSU is in 13th as a team, finishing with a 304 in the first round. Samford holds the team lead with a 285, a one-shot lead over Bradley.
The final round is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, at Richland Country Club in Nashville, Tenn.
