Moton’s Shot Put Headlines Big Marks for Bison Women at Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. – North Dakota State redshirt freshman Akealy Moton shattered the NDSU shot put record Saturday at Nebraska's Husker Spring Invitational, headlining a day of significant performances by the Bison women's track & field team.
Moton surpassed Courtney Pasiowitz's 2018 shot put school record by two feet and five inches, throwing 56-08.75 (17.29m) to win the event. She is now ranked No. 3 in the NCAA this season.
Sophomore Amanda Anderson moved into the NCAA's top 20 this season and No. 2 all-time at NDSU in the discus. Her personal-best throw of 177-11 (54.23m) took first place in the meet.
Bison sophomore Kari Wolfe finished second in the javelin Saturday with the second-best throw of her career – 169-5 (51.64m). She ranks 15th in the NCAA this season.
Sophomore Michaela Baker raced to the No. 3 spot on NDSU's all-time list in the 100m hurdles, clocking a huge PR of 13.77 to finish third.
Bailey DeMar posted an outdoor personal-best mark of 41-06.50 (12.66m) to win the triple jump, moving up to No. 5 all-time at NDSU. DeMar also finished third in the long jump with a mark of 18-11.25 (5.77m), and freshman Tiana Pfaff placed sixth at 17-09.50 (5.42m).
Junior Klara Lyon cleared an outdoor personal-best of 13-00.25 (3.97m) in the pole vault, ranking fifth-best in NDSU history and finishing second in the meet.
Junior Paige Harris clocked a career-best 56.43 in the 400m dash for a runner-up finish. Bison senior Lindsay Wangerin threw 132-10 (40.50m) in the javelin for fourth place.
Bison junior Tasha Willing added a PR in the shot put, throwing 49-07.00 (15.11m) to finish fourth in the meet and fall just outside the NDSU all-time Top 10. Junior Bailey Retzlaff placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 160-6 (48.93m).
Senior Dakota Wood claimed fourth in the 400m hurdles in 1:04.68. Sophomore Katie Bye took fifth in the 800m in 2:18.24.
