Bison Open Play at Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

MARICOPA, Ariz. - In its final competition before the Summit League Championships, the North Dakota State women's golf team opened play at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on Monday at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
The Bison women shot a 308 in both rounds, as they are tied for 17th after the opening day with a 616. UTEP has the lead in the team race, shooting a 300 and a 286 to finish with a 586 and a two-stroke lead over Santa Clara.
Taylor McCorkle leads the way for the Bison, as she shot a 152 on the first day with rounds of 77 and 75. McCorkle is in a tie for 43rd. McCorkle had four birdies on the back nine in each of her two rounds. Emma Groom and Sierra Bennion are tied for 60th, as they both shot a 154 for the two rounds. Groom had a 76 in the first round and a 78 in the second, while Bennion had a 77 in both rounds. Groom had three birdies in the first round and one in the second round. Bennion had four birdies on the day, including three in the second round.
Alexis Thomas had a 78 in both rounds, as she is tied for 72nd with a 156 for the day. Maddie Herzog rounded out the lineup for the Bison, as she is in a tie for 92nd with a 160. Herzog shot a 78 in the first round and an 82 in the second round. Herzog had four birdies on the day, including three in the first round. Playing as an individual, Camryn Roadley is tied for 104th after the first day with a 166. Roadley shot an 86 in the first round and an 80 in the second.
New Mexico State's Suthavee Chanachai has the lead in the individual race with a 136 after rounds of 67 and 69.
The final round gets underway at 9:30 a.m. (Central) on Tuesday, April 9.
