NDSU Women Climb to Fifth at Coeur d'Alene Collegiate

COEUR D'ALENE, IDAHO - The North Dakota State women's golf team had a strong showing on Tuesday, as the Bison climbed six spots in the standings on the final day of the Coeur D'Alene Collegiate.
NDSU finished in fifth, as the Bison shot a 289 in the final round. The Bison and Brigham Young (287) were the only two schools to shoot below a 293 in the final round. It was the second time this year the Bison have shot a 289, tied for the fourth-best 18-hole score in school history. The Bison finished the meet with an 889, the fifth-best 54-hole score in school history. Gonzaga won the team title with an 868, while Brigham Young's Allysha Mae Mateo fired a 68 in the final round to win the individual title with a 212.
Sierra Bennion shot a season-low 71 in the final round, as she finished in a tie for 14th. Bennion had a 221 for the three rounds, which included four birdies on the back nine in the final round. Taylor McCorkle had a 72 in the final round, as she finished in a tie for 24th. McCorkle had a pair of birdies in the final round, as she shot a 223 over the 54 holes. Alexis Thomas shot a 74 in the final round, as she tied for 28th with a 224 overall.
Lexi Geolat and Vinisha Gunaseelan tied for 56th with a 229 overall. Geolat shot a career-low 72 in the final round that included a birdie and an eagle on the 15th. Gunaseelan shot a 79 in the third round with a pair of birdies. Playing as an individual, Camryn Roadley shot an 81 in the last round, as she finished in 83rd with a 244.
The Bison will conclude the fall season Oct. 14-15 at the Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational in Tacoma, Wash.
Note: A player was disqualified following the meet, which changed the final team standings and player standings.
